I had this error and the only way to get rid of was to reduce the number of models.Also I would get this error if I used alot
of fencing,and comufluge(sry about the spelling) brushes and or patches. Also if you are using a script to compile your map
you can increase the amout of occulers by passing this argument in your script. -maxoccluders 594304.thats a magic number but don 't ask why, it helps but not much.

flare -extra -sundiffusesamples 10 -maxoccluders 594304 -dumpoptions

Copy of copy of original map

I deleted all of the trees that were outside of my map (outside of the playable part of the map).

Recompiled, no go.

I deleted a A LOT of terrain and changed my Forliage setup.

Recompiled, no go.

I deleted my church (because I've had a lot of problems with it in-game, before I redesigned the inside and front wall(s).

Recompiled, no go.

I deleted my factory, which was a prefab, and I remember having problems with rotating it, I also created lights inside the building after my last succesfull compile.

Recompiled, go.

So, unless there is more than one thing causing my error, it looks like the factory is my problem right?

Copy of copy of original map

I deleted my factory in my mp_cityofzion map (a copy of the original mp_longhorn_beta1, the working title).

Recompiled, no go.

I deleted my church in my mp_cityofzion map.

Recompiled, no go.

Right now I'm just so sick of it, but I'm not giving up on my map, I think it's way too great to give up right now...

Tomorrow I'm building a new church (the current one, I copied from mp_foy...) Then I'll recompile, see what happens (wouldn't make any sense if it worked now, but you never knwo, right...

Not sure what I'll do after that...


Any other ideas? Anyone?

It's possible but I'm not saying it is your problem, that you could have a bad stick of ram.

My mate had similar problem, at random times an application would crash, after testing his ram with a free tester program he found one stick had bad blocks, so sometimes when a program wanted to use those blocks it fell over.

If you decide to try runnning a test on your ram make sure the application is the type that creates a boot disk, you reboot witht the disk in drive A and it will run the test with no operating system loaded.

I might try that, I still believe it's something in my map (strange stuff only happens to me...)


I have one last thing I wanna try (tomorrow, 0:17 here, been busy all day) And the I'll try to test my RAM stick.

Also here's a tip, make multiple saved copies of your map so if you run into a problem you can back up in time,also you can copy and paste from one copy to the other and it will go right in place so you could have saved some of your work after you find out where the problem is.I make multiple copys like mymap1, mymap 2 and so on. Just make sure you use save as or it will save to last map file you save it as

this could be possible - but i doubt it...but everything is worth a try once...

produce 3 .bat files

each one to run an individual stage of the compile

in essence you will be changing nothing, but you will be breaking it into 3 chunks rather than one big batch file

in terms of removing things - have a look at your terrain, as i have found that to be the culprit 90% of the time

I read about that somewhere on MO, and tried it before but it didn't work, tried it again now, same result.

I noticed this morning I was able to compile my map when I removed ALL of my terrain... Should I redo all of the terrain or what would you suggest?
