The following is an email I have just sent to Jack Thompson. I do apologise but they are my personal views.

Subject: Disgruntled Gamer.

Email:

My name is Matt Buck, I'm a 20 year old Video Gamer from the UK. I have played video games since the age of about 4-5 years old from Sporting Simulations up to games such as GTA:Series and many inbetween. I wish to firstly point out that I have never had a criminal record (including assaults, drug-related, car-jackings or even homicide). I personally believe that Jack Thompson is simply trying to make a name for himself be trying to sue Video Game developers and the only name he has got is by Developers and Gamers who can't stand him.

Video games are not responsible for violence in our world, the people who cause violence are, be they gamers or not. Jack Thompson is suing companies such as Take-Two and Rockstar for doing their jobs. Their jobs are to make video games and to make them sell, which they are doing.

The phrase "Video Games made me do it" has A: Never been a defence in a court and B: Not acceptable. The persons mind knows what it is doing,. O.k. Sometimes the violence is related to drink and/or drugs, but they ain't Video Games.

As your website states, Jack proposed to send a check of $10,000 to a charity if someone made a video game of Mr. O. Kim murdering, dismembering and then urinating on the brain-stem of Video Gamer executives. Now, first off, that is a f**king sick thing to say. Secondly, when a Modding Community unveils their game of the above content, Jack immediately jumps in saying it was "Satire". Again, that is an awful thing to say. What makes me smile is that Penny Arcade paid the money to the charity with Jacks name on it. I would personally shake their hands for doing that.

My question to you or Jack Thompson himself is: Why are you simply targetting Video Games for the causes of destruction and cruelty in the world? If that is true and video games are the cause, may I ask which Video Games Nepoleon played before Waterloo? Even Hitler before invading Poland? Also, why not attack TV shows and movies? Why have you not attempted to sue someone for re-enacting a scene of violence from something like "The Simpsons"? Why have the makers of movies with violence in not been sued by you?

What you seem to forget is, there was violence LONG before video games existed and while the Human race is still around, there will always be violence. Why don't you all calm down, grow up and learn that violence in the world's main factor is the offender's background (mainly parents).

I really hope you reply so I can hear you views.

Regards,

Matt Buck

The ESRB do their job of reviewing and placing the correct age rating of a game on the boxes. If Grandma's buy them for 9 year olds, tough. the age is on the box...

Techno: I wanted to scream and ball, but they wouldn't read it [lol]

Mista: Exactly... I refrained from using that in the email... maybe I should have.

You honestly think you're going to get a reply?[duh]lol

If you do, it'll probably be a little sympathetic one from a secretary saying "We thank you for your concern." or something to that nature. That's if you're lucky to get a reply at all.

I kind of think violent games have an influence on people who kill, it's not the reason why they kill, but it's an influence.

I don't see why any of you guys would care, they're just going to amp the security on selling games and make it a felony if you're caught with a game you're not supposed to have in the first place. I guess you guys are afraid your 15 year old cousins will be fined $100 for playing 'Prey LE' or 'GTA:SA' with you... WHEN THEY SHOULDN'T BE.[wave]
