I just finished my map and packed up the iwd and sent it to my server sysop and he loaded it on the server. The map hangs on the loading screen.

I ran the map on my home pc and it works just fine. So I told my sysop to run it from his home pc and the map loads up but he cant spawn.

We run the extreme mod on our server so Im thinking it may be the mod. in fact when you download a file from our server it goes into the extreme folder not main. Is there a way to change the gsc to call for the map in the extreme folder instead of main?

just in case it helps here is my gsc file

Quote:
main()
{
maps\mp\_load::main();

//Soldier Settings
game["allies"] = "american";
game["axis"] = "german";
game["attackers"] = "allies";
game["defenders"] = "axis";
game["american_soldiertype"] = "normandy";
game["german_soldiertype"] = "normandy";
}

What program did you use to make the .iwd file?
Did you use any custom stuff which might be located on your computer, but not on the server or your sysop's computer?

I just used winzip to make the iwd. I created a zip file then renamed the .zip to .iwd

Everything on my computer is stock, which is probably why the map runs just fine on my computer. This is why it makes me think its the server mod that is not allowing anybody else to run the map.

Im just confused because we run other custom maps on our server all the time, some of them work and some of them hang on the loading screen just like mine does. I opened up one of the iwd files from a custom map we currently run and I looked at the .gsc and its exactly like mine.

I didnt make a loading screen with a screenshot because I just wanted to test the map on the server first. I still just get the blue and green checkered pattern when loading but I dont think that would cause any problems would it?

I had a problem with this on our server, and it turned out it was because we had too many custom maps on our server! Once we'd taken a few out, they all worked fine.

I'm not sure if there's a way to get more custom maps on your server, could you do it via a mappack maybe? (to get the number of iwd files down)

we are actually working on making the map pack. My sysop just hasnt gotten around to doing it yet.

That does kind of make sense though. but it still doesnt explain why my sysop has trouble running the map on his home pc. He said that the map loads up but when he selects a team he just goes into spec and wont spawn

Make sure when you compile all COSTUM .iwd files are moved.

well I fixed the error. I had my gsc file in the maps folder and not the maps/mp [banghead]

so just in case anybody else is having the same problem check to make sure all your files are in the right folders when you create iwd [wave]

i found that on my server, if we don't run the map in map packs, we can't get any more than three maps running at one time. putting them in map packs solved all kinds of trouble. i would highly recomend that you use them
