M8 don't lose the faith, tbh if i could help u with this i would but portals on COD2 i am yet to sort out. I come from VC and octree not BSP and 3dsMAX not radiant so u can imagine how confused i get with some of this.
tbh i don't think BSP handles out door anywhere near as good as octree based engines but thats just me. The use of portals, etc seem extreme in this game and tbh to have a portal in the middle of a map when you can see past the portal from most positions within that map seems silly, but like i say i am new here and would only say keep trying, this forum is the besy for help i have ever seen in all of the mod's map forums so hopefully u get it sorted.
