I'm in the beginning phases of map making and I'm having a problem with the color of my player when I test my map. It seems to be a lighting problem but I'm not sure.

I'm using the worldspawn settings for mp_brecourt, and I've tried with and without a light entity with the same results. The following pics are with no light entity.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks[biggrin]

From what I have seen, this is just a simple worldspawn error, sometimes, but not always (depending on your map) the worldspawn settings will alter the appearance of your weapon and arm. The way I fixed this was I simply lowered the ambient, and set the _color to 1 .95 .95 (always seems to work for me). Sunlight I have not had a problem with before, and lowering the ambient and changing color to 1 .95 .95 has always worked. havent seen as much of the discoloration (green and purple) as I have just ur arm being too white. So if this doesnt help fix it, I'm just telling you what I have had to do to fix this error. Enjoy :P

Dont worry about it.

Add a few models to your map (misc>models) and it will dissapear :)

Well according to the documentation that came with the editor[tongue]

What is a Grid?
Entities (models, players, AI) in a map are lit by the lights in the map. In complex maps (as opposed to small test maps) calculating which lights affect which entities takes a lot of work. To prevent the engine from having to do this in real-time, this information can be written into the bsp using a mapname.grid file. If a map doesn’t have a grid, you will experience harsh hitches when entering new areas where entities are now visible. These hitches feel like texture thrashing. Grids are needed for both single player and multiplayer maps. A map must be recompiled after creating or modifying a grid.
