Check which compile option you've picked, you need to pick one with -light in it for the lighting to be calculated.

If ever your map is still leaking, the lighting stage won't be done.

As for the ground... either you're meaning it looks ugly by lack of light otherwise your map ain't water proof at all and you need to add brushes for the ground, map edges and sky.

Two things. After a compile always check to see if any errors are generated during the compile. Always, I mean always make multiple backups of your map. I always had four different backups running. Sometimes your map can get screwed up beyond repair. hehe. Also another good sign is a very long compile time.

By the way after the compile did you see a Red (hehe) line in your map. Kind of zig zag like it was trying to lead you some where?

post the compile log jewel, its saved as this file each time you compile c:windowstempjunk.txt

LIL problem..........I do a bsp on a map, it shows the redline and where the leak is, it's a picture......I remove the picture, drag the wall next to the hole to cover the hole after I remove the picture......when I go back to do another bsp, it won't compile.......and all's I did was this one thing with the picture :confused: [cry] :confused:

the compile log always tells you why the compile was stopped, once we know the specific problem we can address it.
