I have followed the tutorial read posts in the forums and still banging my head against the wall.I am sure I am missing something simple but just cant see it.after saving the work in asset manager I press f10 or even select PC converter. But get the following message...

image 'C:\Program Files:\Activision\Call of Duty2\images\loadscreen_mp_gmc_beta.dds is unknown format 00000000

where abouts is it you save maybe that is one mistake I dont know.I thought making the map would be hard but the loadscreen seems to be harder than the mapping lol.my map works without the load screen as I have tested it but I want the finished product to be full.I have the loadscreen made it just needs to be put through the asset manger and the cvs file and that including in to the iwd file then its ready for release.get this cracked and I am away making more maps.Help please

How did you create the DDS file?

Typically you start with a more normal format such as a jpg and turn it into a DDS with a converter or plugin.

If you used a converter make sure that you select format DTX5.

I have a little tutorial started at home that describes the process for generating the proper DDS files which I can post a little later today.

A few different things. First make sure when you save your file from Photoshop you save it as "loadscreen_mp_my_map.dds" and THEN select the .dds extension in the scrollbox below. Seems to make a major difference for some dumb reason. Second make sure when you save from Photoshop you're saving to your COD2/images folder and not your screenshots or Cod2/main/images folder.
Thirdly , when saving from the asset manager also type in the extension ,ie, "loadscreen_mp_my_map.gdt" . I have found if I don't manually type in the extensions I get weird errors from the asset manager. Also make sure you are saving from Photoshop with the DXT5 and no picmip options checked. Lastly ,here is a step by step tut that was listed right on the site under Tutorials.

Check it out, it may help you. Good luck with this.

Tanks guys I have got it figured.after my final step I looked in to what mods I was running which I know in my case wasnt many but it seems that the no dust mod conflicted with the map file.I have now got it working.Do you know of any way of allowing them to work with any given mod or is that down to a modder making compatible mods?I dont know much about modding.Added a few to our servers after some configuring thats about it lol.I dont want to get in to that if I can help it now that I can release maps lol.
Now its time to go back to radiant and do loads more work on maps .With more details than my beta version. Many thanks to all the moderators that take time to answer these questions your a big help guys keep up the good work

First off, it should be the DDS extension not dss. Secondly ,when the box appears after make sure you check dxt5 and no pic mip. Thirdly when saving type the ext. in the save name before selecting the ext. type in the scroll box. Ie: loadscreen_my_map.dds , then select .dds and do the rest.
