I am trying to make a custom decal for cod2 but no luck so far. I can make custom textures but not a decal.

The problem is that the black background is not transparent but black. I've made decals for CODUO and know how to make the background transparent but can't get it to work in COD2.
Anyone know how to do this?

ok. I have watched the movie

I have made a decal, but the part that is to be seen is pale and transparent. I have tried several different settings in the asset manger to no avail. It is either pale and transparent or the black background is still there.

The palm leaf is a decal from CODUO and worked very well. I do not have adobe photoshop, but have paintshop pro 9

Anyone have any ideas?

I've got the same problem. Trying to import a masked fence from CoD1 and it is either black background, or the whole thing is pale/transparent.

I've been messing around with settings in the Asset Manager but no luck so far.

Does the background colour need changing?

OK I think I may have solved it. I'd appreciate if someone could try it to confirm.

1. Open the dds file in Photoshop, select "NO" on the show mipmap question.
2. Save a copy of the file as a DDS, with the save format as DXT1 ARGB (1 bit alpha).
3. Go back into Asset Manager, and change the link on your custom texture from the original cod/uo texture, to your new copy you saved in 2.
4. Convert the current asset.

I had the same problem but I fixed it somehow. In the asset manager, set the sort to multiplicative, and the blendfunc to Blend. Fixed it to me, hope it helps [cool]
