I've been trying to get this to work for ages now. I've followed Stryders tutorial and I just can't save a .DDS file if I have the alpha channel. [banghead]

When I do try to save it with the alpha channel, I get the error:
Too many channels to export (5)

Can someone tell me if I am doing something wrong?
I made a video to show what I do to make the image etc.

At the start I'm just copying the image and making a new one, so you can see the settings I'm using for it.

Beware: 30.1MB

What program are you using for making the .dds file?

With an alpha channel there should be only 4 channels to save..
R, G, B and Alpha.

I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS2.

Should I have the RGB at the top, as well as the rest?

i got an error similar to this error after i removed a conversion utility (i believe it was ddstoiwi).

removing the dds plugin, restarting the computer and re-installing the nvidia dds plugin for photoshop fixed it for me - so it would be worth a try in your instance

Nope, never worked [banghead]

In the tutorial you've made, you also have the RGB, R, G, B, A.
(Although we don't get to see you save, except for a ready-made one :P )

Also, I think you have a different plugin. Mine looks smaller than yours (The layout etc).

this is the plugin that i have installed

ran over your video, and i cannot see any reason that you may have a problem, other than it is telling you that you have to save it as a copy...that is what gave me the idea that you had something not right with your plugin...

i will look into this more this weekend

sorry to drag this up but I have the same problem :( the only way to solve it is to flatten the image, but that makes my backgrounds white anyway. really beginning to bug me! [banghead][banghead]specialy as styders vid was exactly what I needed!

does that last sentence mean you fixed the issue? Yeah, you have to flatten the image first. Then edit your Alpha layer as needed.

unfortunately not. although I admit I have yet to try adding the alpha channel after flattening the RGB layers...I did it before and although it kept the alpha channel it made the background show up white.

I shall try it the way you just mentioned and report back with my findings!
