Ok this file __cod2mp_s is preventing me from running multiplayer in any form. Everytime I run the mp.exe it makes this file then stops the game from loading. Is there a script to auto delete a file or does anyone have a alternate fix.

are you sure that's the file which stops CoD2 from loading? Because temp files are usually used to run games..

Like the ~.doc's when you open a .doc file. The ~ file is the one you actually open and adjust.. and until you save it, the original file is not touched.

What kind of error messages do you get?

I don't get a error message it just goes from the beginnings of the load screen back to desktop. But every time I check my cod2 folder it is there again the temp file__cod2mp_s no matter how many times I delete it.

That's normal.. that file gets created when you run the game.

When you close CoD2 normally, it gets deleted, but in your case it doesn't because of the crash.

You say load screen.. your own maps loadscreen or the "CoD2 load screen"? If the first.. does it happen with other maps too?

The cod2 loadscreen. loads for about 2 secs past the cod2 logo then nothing. Yes stops me from loading any multiplayer map. Won't even load the mulitplayer menu.

ok... that's NOT due to the temp file.

Do you have:
Mods in your /main folder?
Custom maps in your /main folder?
If so.. move those out of there and try again..

If that doesn't solve it.. try reinstalling CoD2.
