The .arena file doesn't seem complicated and yet I just cannot get it to list my map.
There seems to be a discrepancy with the methodology between the "Creating an iwd file" tutorial and folder locations and the "Creating a simple .arena file" and folder locations. I've tried both but still cannot get my map to show up on the list of available maps.
Am I missing a file? The .gsc file is checked and in the right place, the .arena file is checked and in the right place. The .bsp file has been zipped to .iwd and in the right place.
What am I missing??? Help, please, this is the last hurdle for a noobie in getting his first map online!!
Thanks again for the Mod masters' patience.[wave]

The bsp is supposed to be in map.iwd > maps > mp > map.bsp****
The arena is supposed to go here: map.iwd > mp > map.arena

Make sure u name it the same, and also, make sure it really is a .arena file, and not a .arena.txt
Check your (windows) folder options to make sure common filetypes aren't hidden (by default they are).

Hope that helps

Notelvis;
WOOHOOOO!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! The file extension was the problem. I would NEVER have realized that was the problem. I went into Control Panel, Folder Options, View tab and deselected "hide extensions for known file types" and when I went back to explorer I saw my .arena file was labelled as;
mp_tomwork.arena.txt
I renamed it and retried creating the iwd file and.....drumroll....VOILA!!! a working online map.
THANK YOU AGAIN this was starting to drive me nuts!! I highly recommend you post this in the Beginner section for mapping as it's bound to bite someone else in the butt!!
You're a gentleman and a scholar!![thumbs_up]
