Hi all, I have recently had re-constructive surgury done to my right ankle after a fall from a ladder last year, so I am laid up for 6-8 weeks with not much more to do than make maps on a laptop in the lounge room... LOL [crazy]

Now I have found some strange things hapening, this laptop is not too old and has all the latest drivers, dx9c, etc etc... but it only has 512 meg of ram and I think the grfx mem is shared too.

Anyway to cut a long story short, I was working on a map before the surgery on my usual desktop pc, I created backups on a cd and then proceded to work on the map on the laptop.
Now I am getting surfaces not rendered in random areas, they have black faces with bright edges.

This never happened before on the bigger desktop pc, could it be that the 512 meg memory on the laptop could be the cause of this?

The only difference is my compiling method. on the desktop pc I use batch files with the ntfs link method, on the laptop I am using the builder with the flare workaround method.

Ok here's a possible fix for others that might be getting these compile problems as well.

I decided to use the small utility junction.exe to create a symlink to c:\program files\game and then used my normal script compile method used on the desktop pc.

Now the same .map file that had many black areas not rendered before using coduo builder now compiles pefectly with the link to game.

So I can only assume that the flare workaround in uobuilder either didn't work properly on my laptop or it has flaws in it's routines to create that workaround.

haha g'day mate, no help needed.
It was more an observation and posted here for others benefit.
Looks like you and I were both on the tables getting hacked into at the same time [cry]
Pain is not as bad now, now I'm just getting bored sitting around all the time.

Lol, mine probably wasn't really a major operation I only got my adenoids removed, but I had a killer soar throat among other things for over a week after. I still don't feel quite great but I am better than I was before. Anyway hope you feel better.[wave]
