I really don't have a clue about this. Should I reinstall CoD2 because of too many mods or what?

Hi.
Only clean up your main folder of Call of Duty 2.
I have a clean directory:

The files on this screenshot and folders do not remove.
Make a new folder "BACKUP" and place all your other files in it. |

You can also grab a program called COD2Pure from The Unknown Clan. It's a program that allows you to clean out your mods from cod2 real quick and simple.
I suggest having two installations of CoD2 to begin with -- one for playing, and one for mapping. Your mapping installation should pretty much never be played--you want a clean, pure source to map and mod from. It's just a safer, hassle-free way of mapping. Always avoid errors that are inherently easy to avoid.
If CoD2 won't let you install twice (some programs won't let you), you can move your installation directory, then pop in the game disc and uninstall the program. What happens is the uninstaller reads from the registry key that everything is installed in the original location you had it, even though the files are moved. So it cleans out the original installation area, and the files you moved will all stay there. You've tricked the computer into thinking that CoD2 is no longer on the system, and now you can install it again.
Good luck out there! |
