if you don't have a .d3dprt file it means your map hasn't compiled correctly. Post your compile log so we can see.

I had the same problem, I solved it by removing all files in the main dir with the exception of .log files, iw_XX.iwd files, and localized_english files. Worked perfectly after that, must have been a problem with a downloaded mod

tuborg, welcome to the forums. Make your own topic next time. It can be done by using the clipper tool ("x"). Do a forum search on how this tool works.

Some thing I have noticed is previous mods like the extreme mod messed up a lot of the original needed files like the spawn entities. I completely uninstalled everything and manualy deleted the CoD2 folder. After installation and patching everything in the beginners video worked exactly like he showed.
