I was able to get some custom textures in radiant and in the game.. but then they just stopped working.. what the heck.. now I cant get them to work at all.. trying all differnt configs...

I cannot beleve we waited so long for this thing and its such a big letdown.. everything is so buggy its not funny... I cannot even scroll through the complete textures list or it crashes the program... now we have to wait forever for a patch for the skd.. [evil]

I don't know why this won't work for me.. it is very irratating especially when i can see the tutorial pic that it does work. I think this radiant just has problems. i can see the iwi file in the images folder. it did not show up in the materials folder though. and it is definatley not showing up in radiant. i am at a loss

Same here, got an .iwi file in main\images and a file without extension in main\materials...
Searched high and low, but couldn't find the texture in radiant.

Does the .gdt file have to go somewhere special perhaps ?
Where can I find cod2's own .gdt files ?
I'd like to have a look at how they did it...

look at all textures - and search for it...
they are not listed alphabetically

Hi Buddys.

-DW-Guy-Tree here I have the same problem I have done everything exact the same as in Stryders Tutorial described.But I dont see the Texture in the Editor I have searched in all Texture folders.The problem is that my Buddy and I need our custom Textures to texture our Titanic Map.But I dont now how I get the Textures working.I am a litle confused I have 35 Textures that i need .For example Stryder says in his Tutorial :

Select material on the asset list, then give your list a name. I am calling mine stryder_textures for this example. Then click the New Entry radio button.

And then:

This is where you name your texture. Given the nature of our texture we are going to call it modsonline. It is important to note that your texture name cannot have any special characters or spaces in the title...an underscore and alpha numerics are acceptable.

for example I click on materials and call my list Guy and then klick on new entry.How can I add 35 textures to that list.Or must I do that for every Texture , that I must klick on materials than give it a name that on new entry than give the Texture a name ,save it converte it and this for every texture.Or can I add all 35 Textures to that first list called Guy.Ohhhhhhh man I need my Textures.

The next thing is I have convert my custom Textures from jpg to dds with no mipmaps.Is that right so or must the textures be tga and then convert to dds.I read in the Iw forum that the textures must be tga and that you need to create a alpha chanel.I mean when i convert my jpg textures into dds i select alpha chanel option(save as dxt3 argb(explezit alpha) in the dss converter tools.

Oh man I Map so long now and have done many Maps with my buddy and now i dont get some shitty Textures to work.

I hope some one can help me with dat I cant work on my Map without this Textures.

guy is going to be the name of your gdt - so guy.gdt

each texture is going to have a name

for example texturea, textureb, texturec .... so on

so, after you create your first texture in guy.gdt - save it
then create the next texture still in guy.gdt

you only need to create your assets once (at the end) especially if you are doing a conversion map because you know exactly what textures you will need so create all 30-odd of them and convert them once

at the end

try it - it really is simple

Hi Stryder.

Buddy I have done everything you say , I have convert now 15 Textures and add them to my gdt.But i cant find one of them in the Editor i have look truh all textures but nothing.I dont now what i do wrong.

What can i do now without my Textures the Editor is useless for me . When I cant create custom textures than i cant do my Map.

I followed the Tut and the textures didn't show up i Radiant for me either,, until...

I created a brush, applied one of the existing COD2 texture to it, then used the "the texture find/replace" utility under the textures menu and it appeared. Though only that one appeared, not any other custom textures, unless I repeated the process one at a time. As they replaced the texture on the brush, the image appeared in the texture window.

Thanks for the info Stryder, I've been trying to get that working since I got the editor. Do you know if there is any way to have it under it's own heading, such as those listed for a specific map ?

well, after following the tutorial several times, i have finaly got two of the three textures i need to work. the only way i could find them was to do a find and replace. i saved my textures as bricks.. but when i load up the bricks textures, they are not there. after doing the find and replace, they have shown up. so now they are where they are suppose to be..thanks for the tutorial. it is very helpfull
