I have finished a small map and i am trying to make a loadscreen for it. I created a loadscreen that is 1024 X 1024 pixels converted it to .dds and then to .iwi. I put that in the images folder and named it loadscreen_mp_hawkeyeaim. Then i took a materials folder out of a sp-mp conversion. I changed the values to fit my loadscreen. I make an .iwd, but when I put it in my main folder and try to start cod2 it crashes to the desktop. If i remove the file it works fine.

Any ideas?

More people are having this problem. No sure resolution as of yet.

im sure its to do with the resolutions etc.

well i just converted an .iwi loadscreen from a sp-mp conversion and it is 1024X1024 so im not sure

yeah i been tryin to get my loadscreen working all day.. no luck on it at all i've tried pretty much. what i do know for sure is that IT IS suppose to be 1024x1024.

hopefully someone writes a tutorial for cod2 loadscreens soon :D

It is, make sure your image resolution is 72 Pixels/inch.

Loading screen Check list: -

Resolution = 72 Pixels/inch.

Image Size = 1024 x 1024 Pixels (Power of Two)

The .dds file is saved as a DXT5 ARGB (Interpolated Alpha).

And finally that you have converted the .dds to .iwi

That’s the image taken care of.

Now you need to make some files and folders.

Make 2 folders call one materials and the other images.

Open Images and please your loadscreen_mp_yourmapname.iwi in it.

In the materials folder you need to make a txt file and put the following info into it: -

2d loadscreen_mp_yourmapname loadscreen_mp_yourmapname colorMap

Save it and remove the extension, the file name is now loadscreen_mp_yourmapname not loadscreen_mp_yourmapname.txt.

Now in your maps/mp folder you need to make another text file so open up with notepad and type the follow: -

levelBriefing,loadscreen_mp_yourmapname

Save as mp_yourmapname.csv

Make your file structure zip it and rename .iwd all should work ok...
