For everybody who is disappointed with the lack of DX7 support, I have worse news for you.

PLEASE NOTE: I will be replying to the E-mail as several things seem very suspicious, including how these tools could possibly help the community to grow if many people can't use them. Also why did they bother to make a list of system requirements that counter what they said above.

THESE are not DX9 compatible, yet are still on the list
- ATI® Radeon® 8500
- ATI® Radeon® 9000
- ATI® Radeon® 9200
**More too, but haven't checked into those yet**

But most importantly i would like more information on why a game that uses DX7 doesn't use it for the mod tools.

I have my own summary:
- PATHETIC rushed attemp at making some people happy
- I really don't care if its free, I bought the game majorly on the modding side of it.
- I am using it at my own risk, thanks
- I don't want support I want it to work
- "The team at IW is helping with design and other issues on they're free time on a volunteer basis." Thats a good thing, but I have never seen them help anyone.

Please note that the Mod Tools are intended for developers and not the general public. Furthermore, they are a free product that was released to encourage and develop the modding and mapping community to grow and develop.

Because they are a free tool that are meant for developers and not the general consumer public, they are not covered by Activision or Infinity Ward customer support. There are no warranties, or promises associated with the tools.

Basically, they are there for you to enjoy if you desire, however it is a use at your own risk resource that we provided to help and encourage the community.

Please install the files to your Call of Duty 2 directory. This is where you installed the game to. The default location is "Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2".

On running CoD2Radiant for the first time, you will need to load the included cod2.prj project file which is located in "\bin".

On running CoD2_EffectsEd for the first time, you will be asked to browse to the location the game is installed. The default location is "Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2".

On running CoD2CompileTools for the first time you must click the "browse" button in the upper left corner and browse to the location the game is installed. The default location is "Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2".

-------------------

I set up an thread, before the launch of the tools, to address any issues with installing or using the tools that the community may have had. This was intended to be a place that not only I could address issues, but that more experienced modders could look and offer their experience and advice to help and develop less experienced modders.

The designers and development team here at IW have been answering design related questions on their free time on a volunteer basis to help you with your issues, and I am finding solutions to any install or user-error issues that may arise from using the tools.

However, issues concerning compatibility with your individual systems could be great and vary. The majority of these issues can be addressed by updating your system to the most recent of components and hardware or meeting the minimum requirements to the fullest as described above.

IN SUMMARY:

- These tools are not meant for the general consumer public and hardware
- These tools were provided as a FREE resource for the community
- Use at your own risk
- These FREE tools are not covered by customer support or warranties
- The team at IW is helping with design and other issues on they're free time on a volunteer basis.

I understand that it might be frustrating that you are unable to MOD because your system doesn't meet minimum requirements; however this is a FREE product that is available if you would like to use it and desire to ensure you have the required hardware.

Please let me know if there are any user-error or installation questions or problems you may be having. Outside of system requirements, and I will be happy to see if I can find a solution.

Thank you!

call of duty 2 was never intended for use with dx7, so why would the tools support it?

the force dx7 mode for gameplay was a hack (as far as i am concerned) and if i recall correctly, the mod tools plainly state that your video card and drivers must fully support dx9.0c (just like the game)

monstrous_m you have made many posts about the dx7 and you got the same thing everytime. I understand that your mad because IW does not support dx7 for the map editor but that all you can do. It siads in the CoD2_Tools_Documentation.htm which is in your Docs folder in call of duty 2 that the editor only supports up to date drivers. dx7 is not up to date because dx9 is so that rules it out. As for Activision not supporting the tools will they never do. The way they do it is every thing you make using the tools is theres not yours and have fun try to get the tools working.

I don't like the part were what we make using the tools is there's but oh well.

You can read the tools modtooleula.txt file in the Docs folder to.
