i need to add rain to a map 4 a mod
that wouldn't be such a problem if it was a custom map but i need to add rain to the mp_shop map [biggrin]
so how can i do that?
Quote:

--------------
textures/rain_shop/_rain

{
qer_editorimage textures/rain_shop/_rain
qer_nocarve
qer_trans 0.75
surfaceparm noimpact
surfaceparm nonsolid
surfaceparm trans
q3map_nolightmap
// cull disable
{
map textures/rain_shop/gr_raindrops
blendFunc GL_ONE GL_ONE
tcMod scale 0.6 0.6
tcMod turb 0 0.05 0.015 0.05
tcMod scroll -0.1 -1.5

I don't believe in editing stock maps for any purpose, with that said...

The "stock" rain can't be used in MP, however I have seen it accomplished (at a very low quality mind you) before in custom maps, unfortunatly I don't recall the maps name or author, but the player still had to enter something in the client side console for it to take effect... But even then it would have to be in the map prior to being compiled...

Depending on the MOD's ( I haven't been in SOF2 for awhile now) support for MP might have been added, but I highly doubt it...

yes under the rain has great rain, download it and check it out its definatly posible. Xmas alley also shows snow using im sure a simillar technique, however, the fact that both maps are so small begs the question what happens when i stick it in a big map, are we gonna see too much pc drain to make it useable? After all, although the average pc has compeltely overtaken the requirements of the Q3 engine, the engines own limitations with the way it processes things makes some calculations jsut too much no matter what power ur throwing at it. Interesting to see the result.
