When the Halo 2 Windows Vista port comes about, expect some nice enhancements. The game will come with HD quality scenes and a map editor. The editor won't be made by Bungie, but rather a third party... so I wouldn't expect too much support from anyone... except maybe MODSonline. hehe.

Very nice - in a way, i don't like Halo 2 much, but the Multiplayer wasnt too bad.

I think it is good that games are going to be quickly ported over to Vista... but I just hope they don't find more uses for Vista so less time is spent on XP Games.

i did likedHalo(1) very much, and was disapointed when Halo2 was only for console and not pc. so i'm glad that Halo2 now will come on pc, and even better, that a editor will be present to make your own maps with Halo2. i tried to map with Halo1, but that wasn't possible because it was made with a modeling program when i remember right. so, good news. and that the editor will not be surported is not a big problem because like you said Foyleman, there is always Modsonline to help eatch other.

Whys anyone even considering Vista? XP had huge problems initially when it was first released. Until Vistas first SP is released - It'll stay off my PC.

I do wonder if MS maybe shooting themselves in the foot with only a Vista only release of Halo 2. As others mentioned. Most people who wanted to play it would have by now...I know I have!

Their pushing Halo 2 for Vista only because they need a perk for the gamers to buy the new OS. Its like Original Halo as a launch title for Xbox and Perfect Dark Zero and COD2 for Xbox 360. I personally used Windows 98se for like 2 years after XP was out then decided to switch over ONLY because the COD editor was XP only at the time. I haven't heard anything really "moving" to get me to switch over to Vista, a few built in features I already have in XP from other sources, woohoo. It's prettier? Well so was XP compared to 98 but that wasnt too convincing either. Theres more reasons but its too early here and I'm done for now.

I know I speak for a large group of people when I say that the only reason Windows does so well in teh home is because Linux and MacOS doesnt have the solid gaming base windows has. There was a project to port DirectX to Linux so we wouldnt have this problem. If that pulled through then GoodBye Windows, personally.

Same here, except I was using ME. COD Editor did work just not very well. Even though I worked with XP everyday fixing other peoples problems - I only switched to XP when I had too.
