Hey,

I have a few questions.

1st: I want to make a relistic winter level but, in order for it to be realistic there has to be a few things done. First, If you ever have knoticed thats the snow is the same deepness everywhere on the map. I want to have deep snow that players can walk through, just like if you went under the water. Also if they went prone, they would be fully hidden, so i also want the snow to go with them. Its hard to understand but lets say you fell in the snow...the snow wouldnt go right over you. I want there to be like little ditch where the players crawl and maybe even walk. This sounds hard but i know there is a way to do this.

Thanks

It requires a new shader, kinda like the water one.

Check out the common shaders, (common.shaders in pak4.pk3).

I'm not sure if it's possible to make it exactly like you want.
It will also require new effects and maybe snow sounds.

You can use an alpha texture applied to a mesh to get a mist-like effect over terrain if you place the translucent mesh a few units above the ground. Works best over water and you need to make sure the player can't get their eyelevel below the mesh.

Some of the dirty snow textures look mistlike when used this way. You could even alpha blend them to make the fog fade in/out over the water.

Thanks guys,

I tryed ricstas idea and it worked only...when you go prone your body goes fully under. I wanted it so if you went prone in deep snow the guound would flatten out where your laying or crawling so you couldnt hide under the snow.

That's not possible without a serious amount of modding/scripting.
