No. Both are just temp. terrain textures. I sometimes use them if I'm not sure what type of terrain I want in some place, but when I do know I want two different ones.

I usually use them to blend grass--I'll have the grass layer textured as grass, hide the terrain layer, then alpha blend, and check out how it looks with a dark surface under it. Just makes it easier to flip thrrough different textures and see how things look. They show up in the game, btw, so you can't use them the same way as caulk.
