let's sum up. tell me if i got it wrong:

apply a texture means both a characterization of a brush (like sound to play when you walk on it) and its appearance.
in the case you talked about it is:

ground@grasstexture
^ ^
charact. appear.

when i choose a texture from the menu to know both theese classes i must apply it to a brush and press s.

still a question: can i use, for example "wood@grasstexture", i mean can i freely associate the two classes (charact and appear)?

thanks

Subdolo

Yes, you could make your own texture "wood@grasstexture if you wanted to. You could even make a "glass@grasstexture if you want. The engine just applies the shader to the texture,m it doesn't care WHAT it's actually applying.
