if i were to make a map would it be noticed by more then my one friend? seems my hl2 maps arent getting anyone. because i will need to build my other comp and throw xp on it but if its not popular for a custom map then i dont need to go thru that. advice plz. thanks.

popular? yes and no. I think that some maps that could be implemented with the 64 player mod (single player to multiplayer hack) would be awesome. However, making the objects that get inserted into the maps is a pain in the arse. The plugin for maya only supports maya version 6 and I only have newer versions of maya.

The other way to handle objects is with 3d max and asprin.

Without objects, all you have is a terrain and flags. [ohwell]

i thot i downloaded the map editor and then just created brushes and stuff to make buildings...or is this one of those things where u have about 300 buildings to choose from and u cant make brushes? asking that because i see the same building in Strike at Karkand thats on the corner and u can see the squar from it and theres that mounted rocket launcher and all that. that building is also in about 5 other maps.

It's a terrain editor with an object importer. All the buildings and everything are Maya-built objects. It makes nice terrain and the editor is pretty sweet.... but you have to create your buildings in a 3D modeling program and import them.

Objects in the game - tanks, guns, trees, etc. are models that are easily placed.

Terrain and buildings however are created...
However, keep in mind that there are lots of sites out there that host 'PREFABS' for games of this nature...You can download these and just ' PLOINK' them in your map (if your lazy and want other to do the real work)...LOL[lol][lol]

you can't get custom maps to be rated on servers though can you. so my question is why bother trying to map for the game if it won't be a rated map

from my experience with this you can use all the buildings and objects from the game you just have to look closely to find em and yes you can't make map rotations that easely but it's possible
