I have tried to put my own server on the web several times by making a sever on the main menu and selecting internet for the connection. It works when i do a LAN connection, but I want computers out of my LAN to be able connect too. How?

If ur on a router.... its VERY complicated, I spent months before on how to make ur server from home go online.... I have read MANY tutorials, none helped me, it helped some, so I would just get a little home server and just host some LANs, or rent a server at escapedturkey.com

All you have to do is enable port forwarding on your router. My particular router came with call of duty on a drop down list so don't really know the port number but you can google it. Hope this helps.

kenyanrebel do u have a router, its just i hav'nt seen you state that you actually have one.

If players can connect through lan then i would think they can connect through the web to, because when my router was not working it was blocking web and lan, then when i sorted it out both lan and web could connect.

go to whatismyip.com and that will tell you the ip people need to use to connect to you.

Dont worry about a port

just get your friends to go into cod and bring down console and for example type

/connect 82.44.55.223

the address will be what ever it showed you on whatismyip.com

good luck mate

Ok I have tried this and I think it works pretty good . If you have your computer all set up got this web site and creat a Cod config file for your server http://www.noginn.tsohost.co.uk/codserver/ got to this web site and make your config file . this is where you can set it up to any config you want ok the web or LAN . then just put the config file in the the MAIN file in Cod then creat a short cut to the server config file . Edit the target of the short cut to dedicated 1 or something like that . I hope this helps if you are still having trouble post and I will try to help any way i can to get you up and going
http://www.boodizm.net/cod/server.asp this web site also has all the server setting to list to help get you started . if you get your server up and runing let us know your ip. and we can shoot it up good .

I'm sorry- thats NOT true- for other games that works- for cod u do need to open the ports, thats what your supose to do, theres a big huge form for how to make ur cod sever go online from home, ill find it and post it here, but ur just supose to open the ports- which i believe is 28960
