Today, Midway announced that they have broadened their in-game advertising strategy by partnering with Double Fusion. Both companies will work on integrating ads into next-gen titles, Stranglehold being mentioned specifically.

Under terms of this agreement, "Midway titles are to incorporate DoubleFusion's dynamic ad-serving technology to serve advertising campaignswhich will be sold by Double Fusion's worldwide sales force."

"Alongwith our strategy to create immersive, engaging content, we believethat the technology to allow for dynamic, in-game advertising will adda sense of cultural relevance and context for the mass-marketaudience," said Steve Allison, chief marketing officer, Midway. "Ourrelationship with Double Fusion will not only add potential incrementalrevenue on top of our existing static ad placements, but allow us towork with a partner sensitive to game development and committed tomaking ad placements organic and credible."

incredible how your find these things. as long as games dont get spyware and a bunch of uneeded stuff with them that slows down everything then its cool with me. yet, is advertising in a game all that great? i have never played a game, seen a ad for coke and go out and buy one.

the purpose of many forms of advertising isn't to increase sales but to raise awareness. And advertisers are always keen to manufacture new ways of reaching audiences. Imagine ordering a pizza in GTA and then it arrives at your door???

Still a crock when you have to buy the game thus buy the advertizing for something completely unrelated to the game itself. It's one thing to see the crap all over and now this?

"BaH" I say, when will it end.

In game advertising may lead to cheaper or even free game development, did you ever think of that?

I'd have to see it to believe it. As it stands right now when it comes down to advertizing companies making money, I seriously have doubts about their motives and believing that they will bring prices down for products that can make them money or even make people aware of their products?

Naaaa...

As it stands right now Ubi is advertizing on their own games in Lockdown...

Good idea but the price isn't any cheaper.

Cheers

well if i had to pick seeing a "coka cola" machine that actually says the real brand name or a false one that i can shoot the hell out of and make it into micro pieces. then i would go for the second one. i dont exacly load up my UO to say, "hey lets look at the signs on the walls and do research and see if they are real"....that sounds fun....but oh well. ya get my point.
