The publisher EA have announced their plans on reducing prices of 2 soon to be released titles in the hope they can catch a few more customers.

As more and more gamers today are buying the next-genconsoles, PC games are struggling to keep up with the new and tougher market. Now EA have decided they will drop the prices of 2 soon to be released games inorder to get more customers who are saving up for newer consoles but can stillafford the game. Now these titles are proposed to be: :

  • Black
  • The Godfather
  • Fight Night: Round Three

These titles should be going for around $39 USD and Europeanshops are unlikely to have this drop, though this still hasn't been confirmedby EA. Maybe others will follow along, I sure would like to see some populargames go cheaper.

Now there's a shock.

We already pay nearly twice the price for everything than in America.
So why should EA buck this trend of [exclamation][exclamation][exclamation]the Europeans

Somehow I think these games are facing price drops not because they're trying to gain new consumers in general but because they're trying to gain consumers for these particular games--only one of these games is a sequel, and it's a sequel to a pair of exceptional boxing games. I think the drop on the two original games just reflects EA's inconfidence in new exposure, and reinforces the idea that they've just been relying on a backbone of reproduction for the last several years. If you think about it, the most original idea to come out of EA in the last handful of years has been the Sims (the irony here is that the Sims is widely regarded as the best selling franchise in video game history [rolleyes])
