WWII online was always too buggy for me to enjoy. great concept and one day a sequel with better graphics and less glitches will be the standard for multiplayer gaming.

the grenade indicator is supposed to simulate real life awareness that you can't get sitting at a computer desk. In real life you can hear direction better than the game can convey, you also have teammates that in real life call out grenades when they see them which is not present in games. and even sometimes you just feel it coming.

you don't need the sdk to take it out thou. i've played servers without it i believe.

Absolutely true. PAM had it taken out for Cal (back in now). It just takes a serverside mod to get rid of the indicator.

I'm tempted to try this WWIIOnline thing...it sounds like a blast. I just need to find time to effectively use my trial.

Wait until about a week in to the next campaign, by that time, all of the good vehicles will be out and about (there's a research and development cycle [RDP] that Britain, France, and Germany go through. The High Command selects various changes to be made to deployments, etc, and new units are introduced at the end of a cycle. Cycles can also be affected by strategic bombing of factories).

Joining now, to be honest, might not be a good idea...we Axis players now control ~77% of the map, with France's primary industrial cities on the frontlines (we actually assaulted one a few days back, and I warned one of the High Command guys we were overextended and to defend a key choke point...I come back the next day and the chokepoint was taken and towns we acquired were cut of from supply). Speaking of the stuff in parentheses, it does play out much like a war would, there are so many other factors to a battle than the battle itself.

Otherwise I've just been observing the map now that I can't get in the action...but, I do enjoy looking over military maps. I'm something of an "armchair general" as they're called.

But go ahead and check it out at www.wwiionline.com

One thing I absolutely must stress is that, while playing, you must have patience, lots of patience.

Besides the poor graphics that game looks cool! If only the graphics of COD1 could be combined with the action and gameplay of that game, then you'd get the ultimate unstoppable ww2 shooter.

the graphics of CoD1 dictate that the maps be small, so its either the all-inclusive and realistc yet graphically poor WWIIONLINE or theres the graphically intense and action packed yet unrealistic CoD

it could look as good as planetside and still run smooth.

fact of the matter is the game is dated and it shows it. the devs should redo the game completely.
