Hello,
If anybody would like a personal lesson on how to use the csg tool please message me.
It will take a mathematical mind to master it. I have cracked its secret and will share it if you would like to know.
In conclusion the CSG tool is a godsend for reducing polyface counts.

I don't even use it for skyboxes.
CSG is the tool of the evil doers.
Apparently it's OK for large scale brushes but on lower scale stuff it causes node without a volume warps textures in a most awful way and eats children.
Mark my words, tool of the evil doers.

From the words of IW:
Quote: I do, however want to step in and voice my opion on CSG Subtract.
It's bad, bad bad bad, don't do it, never do it, we need to remove that button from the tool bar.
It's a habit that I personally would like to see beginners *not* get into the habit of doing.
Using CSG can and may cause *you the mapper* more pain than you may ever know or *realize*.
CSG can and may create unwanted and unneeded splits in your brush work. It can cause more compiler errors than you'll want to try and fix.
The biggest problem with CSG... it's a fast and *easy* way to create openings in walls.
Please take my word (as a so-called Professional mapper) never use it.
Instead, learn to work with your brushes, mold those brushes into the shapes you want.
The Clipper tool is your friend, learn it love it.
You should never use the CSG functions no matter what brush you are working with. EVIIIILLLLLLL

Well i'll tell you a little story:D
First map i ever made, the plan was too release it, and it nearly got there. But i knew no different i used CSG tool, for eveything i could, first 8 or so testing compiles were ok nothing too much error wise. I got ready to release first public beta and once i put compile on "extra" then things BAD things started to happen.
In short it totally killed my map, the amount of errors in the compile log, was insane. I spent like prolly 200+ hours on my first map. Atfer it failed right towards end, kinda put me off mapping, but i came back atfer a while:) |

The CSG is a very nice tool when you know how to use it.
If you still dont know how to use it then I would be glad to show any of you, even the people who think they are pro's.
In the end they might all need a lesson.
