Hi, does anyone know where to get html tutorials on how to create, rig, texture, custom animated characters/models in max and then get them into doom3. slow internet connection prevents me from getting the video tuts ive seen that could help.

PS, is there anyway to take q4's textures and use them in d3?

I don't have Quake4 but it shouldn't be too tough, create the same kind of folder structure in doom3 (mode;s/enemies/md5/..... and drop them in there. Take their script fiels and put them in the scirpt file. You'll also need to add the scripts to the doom3main.script so it loads the script files up, you'll need the enemy textures +mtr files you'll need any sounds that also come with the character otherwise you'll get crashes...welll atleast a console error or 2, and finally their def files. I think it's abit of work but quite possible.

As for rigging and animation in max, I didn't find too many free tutorials when I was learning :( I animate in Max using Fowrard kinematics (just plain joint rotation) it's harder and longer but ...ah if you take your time it's fine. I do a tiny bit of max animation in one of my doom3 weapon tutorials.

Hope it all helped...well gave you some ideas atleast
