Hi all,

I'm relative beginner to mapping. I've been making huge progress up until trying to do a sky. I've downloaded the video tutorial when explains surrounding the area with brushes and then assigning the small blue 'sky' texture to them. When i load up my skies texture group however, all the textures are there but not the accompanying small blue sky special textures!

Please help, my frustration levels have gone through the roof!

Thx in advance

In radiant you will always see the blue sky texture

Use that texture where the sky is going to be

The sky that will be used in the map is specified in worldspawn
for example
sky=irq

As long as the sky is present in the game texture folder then it will be seen when the map is loaded

There is no reason to access the custom sky texture folder in radiant unless you want to remind yourself what it looks like

The problem is though that I have no blue sky texture to select, I only have the landscapes themselves. I've made sure all my pk3 files are unzipped to the \textures folder but still no blue box?

Any ideas?

You use the same blue sky texture in all maps

If you load say - Armoury textures you will see the blue sky texture

Use this wherever you want to see sky

Again...the only place the actual sky is specified is in worldspawn - and if that sky texture is present and correct in your game folder then you will see that sky when you play the map

I've sorted it now. I didn't have radiant set up correctly. I followed the installation procedure orignally from a solder-of-fortune website. Logical I thought but in the end it was BAD advice! I uninstalled everything, and followed the installation procedure from the mods online tutorial, which was much more indepth. Now when I load up my sky textures I have little blue boxes! I've tested them in the game and BINGO , I have sky!

Thanks for all your help, much appreciated.

this site used to cover sof only and branched out later, thats why there is so much sof 1&2 stuff here -- more than anywhere else.
