Hi all,
I wonder if anyone knows how we can better control the mouse movements when having to make very slight bends for instance in a pipe.

Lets say I create a pipe using the Curve more cylinders option.
Then I make the pipe very long and very very skinny. Now I would like to use the patch bend mode option (icon in top menu) to bend the pipe at various angles. OK. I have no problem doing this.
But, after selecting some bend point, then moving the mouse in direction I want the pipe to be bent,
I have little control over "minute movements" while
trying to move the mouse just a tiny bit so that the pipe will only bend a very slight amount.
The pipe may be bent far more then what I wish it to be, because the mouse simply does not have the resolution set to a high enough degree to only
move the pipe the slight amount that is desired.

So my question is: does anyone know if there is a sequence of key strokes for instance, that can be type to make the mouse more sensitive? And
secondly, if not, can the mouse sensitivity (where a slight movement in some direction) be adjusted so that one has better control over very small mouse movements when attempting to modify a selected object such as when trying to bend it?

thanks for any feedback,
grb

when you bend the thing you are not REALLY bending it you are moving the vertices into another location on the grid. set your grid resolution lower to make more sensitive adjustments. [cool]

Thanks Narc,
Understand about vertices movement. And it appears I have much better control over making little incremental changes in movement when setting the snap grid size to a lower number.
So if I was at lets say Grid8, and then set it to Grid1, then using Delete Key magnify the object and zero in on the area I want to bend the vertices,
the mouse works OK. Put another way, I can now
make very small changes in movement when just touching the mouse a little bit. The result being I can make bends that are very close to 90 degrees for instance, where before the piece of pipe would zoom well past the point I wanted the bend to stop at.
Hope this makes sense.

adding more isoparms to the geometry would make it even more easier to bend. you want a minimum of three isoparms localised at a bended area. sorry if im saying something too obvious now.

Narc,
I see what you mean. Never thought about adding
more vertices so that one has a more even bend.
I will keep this in mind. I guess with the pieces of
cylinders I have been making, it always seems like there are three in the perpendicular axis so the result of the bends (non have been to drastic) appear to look ok. But obviously the more points to move will provide for a smoother looking bend.

thanks,
grb
