at codfiles.com there are loads of skins for COD2. All I can find is the dds thing. Can anyone help me by pointing me in the right direction for the tools so i can open iwi files and save them as iwi files?

.IWD Is just a file extension, exactly the same as .PK3. Open it up using WINRAR, PAKSCAPE ... And you zip them up again in exactly the same way you would make a .PK3

.iwi files can't be opened (yet). Hopefully there will be a plugin with the editor so we can create textures and such. There is a "decompile" for .iwi files, changing then to .dds files. There is, however, no way of changing them back to .iwi.

check out the IWN forums. [GER]Ice_Man has a iwi2dds converter and someone else has a dds2iwi converter. BUT , when/if you do make a something you need to make a material file aswell. atm you can only make the material files using an already made 1 ( and to make it easier on you try and get 1 that has the same number of letters in its name as ur iwi ) then hex edit it to match ur iwi

you can get the converters here: IWI2DDS DOWNLOAD DDS2IWI DOWNLOAD I've nearly finished my materials file creator. this will allow you to create any new materials file to reference any new custom images you want to use.
