Activision has responded to Call of Duty 2 fans who threatened to shut down servers by embarking on a 24 hour strike.

In a statement issued to Eurogamer, the publisher said: "After 2 yearsof non-stop work on Call of Duty 2, Infinity Ward has just returnedfrom a much-deserved break. The team is aware of some concerns aboutmultiplayer cheating in the game and is looking into an anti-cheatsolution.

"Stay tuned for new updates and we'll be sure to keep you posted as soon as we can."

The strike was called by CoD2 fan ButchCassidy, who wrote on a fansiteforum: "We request here and now that either Activision or Infinity Wardmake an official announcement regarding their future support for theCall of Duty series of games on or before 16th December 2005."

But will this be enough to prevent the strike? Well, at the time of writing it was still set to kick

Well I'm glad they have atleast acknowledged the problem, but today is the big day. Someone needs to step up, it's either the developers or the players.

It's funny all of the sudden something is said from either Activision or IW on the day before the strike hahah. They better be cooking some good Fixings

I thought that this was the most childish thing. Activision thought so to, because if you read that message, you will see that it doesn't say that they will change anything. I wish you all could see how much work it takes to run a game with the capasity of CoD2. We at =IoU= did NOT participate in this childish act that was meant to rush somthing that takes time.I realise that we need anti cheat, and I know that we need a glitch patch, but still, All I can say to all those Lets make a difference in the world people, "Grow up, get a life, and do somthing besides play video games." Let them do thier job, and leave them alone.
