today now theres an attitude that all you have to do to be a l33t mapper is decompile someone elses map and change a few things around then re-compile

which makes another good reason to continue to not have a decompiler for COD.

Well i deffinitely didnt release the .map for ramelle, so i have no idea how how this guy was planning to just modify my map...i mean the screens he first posted were ones i had already released[ohwell]

Point of advice to all mappers out there. Never release you .maps...and if you do give them to anyone make sure theyre a trusted friend you know will never distribute the .map

@ ricsta as far as having 150+ hours of production it actually took me 9 months and that while trying to pass year 12.

@ Devil A HUGE thanks for bringing this to my attention, and for supporting my work and putting this stealer in his place[smokin]

Last but not least id'e like to wish all the mods/mappers/modders at modsonline a very Merry Christmas and a Happy new year, and ill see ya's all in the new year when the cod2 editor comes out![smokin]

peace.

twas i that said 150+ hours :p If i remember rightly we started mapping for Heroes Hour mod at the same time and we released our maps within a month of each other too. I'd say between me and ricsta we put about 150 hours in over the 8-9 months.

lol at your first map. u should go pro with talent like that!

i dont see this as a defining reason to release - or not to release your .map

this instance shows the stupidity of noobs who dont really appreciate the skill involved to make a map, and to make it well..as well as the lack of knowledge of the community they are trying to bullshit...

the only thing noob did was take some screenshots of an existing map and say it was his...so should we not release pk3's now?

of course not - that would be silly

while i agree that those you entrust your .map to should be held in your confidence as trustworthy, there are always going to be those who cannot nor will ever fully understand the work required to create and publish a well done map - and basing a decision on single instances means you are stooping to their level
