I've found that many of the members here didn't like Vietcong so we didn't get into the modding for this game. So, I don't know how much help we can provide. Maybe some of these basics will apply to you:

- look for large packages of files and try to open them with winzip. These large files will contain most of the game files that you are looking for.
- if winzip doesn't work, give winrar a shot.
- if you are able to locate the sound files, then the idea is to replace them. I don't know if there is a 'load mod' option in the game or not. If there is, then you will want to create a mod which is often a separate folder that goes by the name of the mod. When you load the mod, it loads the files in that folder instead of the main folder. This also means you will have to copy the important files from the main folder to your mod folder.
- then it's a matter of replacing the sound files. Make sure that when you do replace them, that you do it using the same recording method. Make sure the bitrate, channels and the rest are the same or the game might not play it.

I hope some of this information helps you.

Modding the game sound for this game isn't possible....Many have tried and many have failed.

However, making terrains for this game using 3dsmax 5, 6, or 7 combined with the vietcong plugins Pterodon provided...you can make new content weekly.

This game has a dev editor (Ptero Engine Editor) which allows you to modify maps......you can "duplicate" the existing terrains provided with the game, strip them, and make your own version of it...There are still several modding websites which provide content for editing maps for VC. www.vietcong-coop.net is an example. This site has most of the coop maps made for this game along with the editing tools needed, tutorials, and texture packs...

Today there are still thousands of players still playing the 5 year old game...There is no AI which comes close to reality like this game...try any VET coop map and you will see what i mean...We have edited the scripts heavily to make the computer controlled player just as good as the human players which join the game...

Our website is dedicated to this game, and also provided support for editing with the tools provided by Pterodon.
