Hi all,

I am rather new to mapping, i still need to grasp the important necessities.
When i compile my maps the textures seem to blur in game when you get close up to them. They are not high quality at all and i think it makes my maps look bad. Here is my compiling code:

Is that normal compiling for finished maps? or just testing...

Also another problem that has arisen. Even if i put worldspawn values for lighting from an original map like "mp_chateau" everything is so bright still [ohwell]
Maybe this has something to do with the way im compiling?

Hi Seawolf,

I have watched this tutorial already, infact i have watch jdawggs one aswell. I use jdawggs compiling method. But he did say in the tutorial that these were low-quality settings just for testing the map.
Experienced Mappers must use different settings to those which i posted. Dont forget i still have the lighting problem i need to fix aswell [ohwell]

sounds to me that the flare compile isn;t running, post your compile log so we can see what might bethe problem. and for testing ingame, there is a lot of difference between 800x600 and everything low and 1024x786 and everything extra.

Hi all,

I am very desperate for help on my compiling problems. I think the textures is no problem it was just me [idea]

But i definatly have a problem with my lighting [ohwell]

If i create a light in a room at 800 intensity with a big radius, it doesnt affect the lighting with or without it. Also the same happens with worldspawn lighting values, with or without them it doesnt make any difference.

Above i have posted my compile log and the compiler batch code.

I hope you can help me.

Do you have a skybox?

I have had brightness as you talk of when I don't have skybox.

Hey,


Yeah i have a skybox.. seems to be know leaks aswell. I cant understand it.[crazy]
I also have my ingame setting on the very highest! I run everything extra and at a resoltion of 1600x1200.

The problem is your method of compiling or paths.
The bsp is not found so no flare compile is done.
If you are using CodUoMaker then try using the flare workaround option.
