I did this ages ago to fix my uo sp n thought nothing more of it but today someone pmd me n metioned the problem asking if i had a solution. Well i dont have a solution as such but i do have a work around.

The problem ppl seem to have (and i had) is that in sp if you try to load an auto save or quick save after dying the game crashes and goes to desktop, well heres what you do

make a new folder in

c: program files/ call of duty

and name it

uosp_fix

can be named anything but simpler to just leave it as that

now make a new text doc (ie notepad) and copy n paste this in

coduosp +set fs_game uosp_fix

finally go to save as and save the text doc as

uosp_fix.bat

this make a bat file of the same name in the same folder as ur text doc (ie if ur on ur desktop the bat of same name will appear there so look for uosp_fix.bat)

put the .bat in

c: program files/ call of duty

now when you double click the uosp_fix.bat cod uo sp will run as usual only now save files will be created in your uosp_fix folder and cod uo has no problem loading the saves from here so no crash

Obviously you can shortcut the bat n put the shortcut on ur desktop under any name you want.

One final thing, any screenshots you take in game will now be saved in a screenshots folder in the

uosp_fix

folder

Yes you are right about the autosave issue.

But if you design isn't there a way to get around
"set g_connectpaths 1" because this is EVIL.
How do i integrate this so when designing sp map
that my animscript works.
My characters go to move.

People "set g_connectpaths 1" is EVIL.

Hello "phantomdentist" first off all thanks for your
great solution.

[thumbs_up]

I did the following i created an .bat file with the following
content:

codsp +set fs_game mymap +map mymap +set g_connectpaths 1

This .bat file has the name "mymap.bat" file and did placed it in:

C:\Program Files\Call of Duty\

in the same directory i have created an folder "mymap"

and i have droped mine mymap.pk3 in

C:\Program Files\Call of Duty\Main directory.

Seems that the problem is solved.

As you wrote after you run the bat file you directly drop into your level and will notice that there is an directory created in
the "mymap" folder called "autosave"

and now comes the reason why i find
+set g_connectpaths 1

EVIL

in this same folder there is also an folder created "maps"
with an "mymap.bsp".

When the autosave function kicks in it seems that this file
is written to this directory.

I have did a look at your sp map "snow" works just fine without using this
above and continue mission works fine.

And i have browsed the structure of the sp map "ardennes" in
the CoD download section.

This developer works with an .bat file and he doesn't use
"+set g_connectpaths 1".

Well you actually only need the connectpaths during development. Any time make a new bsp it needs to be there to create the paths. When i released snow i wasnt aware of it and i beleived you had to use these everytime. Once ur map is ready for release you can take connect paths off

What i have is several shortcuts, one just runs the map normally with cheates enabled then i also have a shortcut that runs like the rest but also has connectpaths added so that the very first time after compile i run it from this shortcut and until the next compile i use the normal shortcut without connectpaths

Sorry if my noobery during releasing snow confused you lol

maps for single player mappers to learn.

sp mapping.
Your response and method works like a sharm.

It's real fun mapping single player levels.
