Well thats wierd then because im used to the buttons being where they are marked on the keyboard, obvious really

So therefore 2 should be the speech marks on my keyboard and 3 should be the pound key, i cant find the pound key anywhere now. Not only them but all the others two.. seems to be american layout then.. hum never used to be any way to change this or is it a sort of 'built in' thing, though that seems hard to believe, because it worked before!

yea, u bought a keyboard that must be forign to you. my keyboard is 1! 2@ 3# 4$ 5% 6^ 7& 8* 9( 0) so i dont know wut that problem is there. but it should tell you what it is on the keyboard. try as qrz said Settings-Control Panel-Regional and Language Options. and make sure your keyboard is set up properly with yer language/country and keyboard type.

exact same thing has happened to me rasta :)

there is a key-shortcut you can press and then it goes all "not same-buttons-as-marked-on-keyboard"

Never remember the exact combination but its like Shift+Ctrl+Alt+Something+Something

That's what you need to do. Fiddle with the settings untill you get it right. I have the same thing each time i reformat my pc.
