When I try to test my bsp file with Codmp.exe it say it can't find map/mp/mapname.bsp even though I put that file in the mp folder.

Any ideas as to why that would happen?

I am running windows 10

Shouldn't it be maps/mp/mapname.bsp
Instead of map/mp/mapname.bsp

Check your setup.

Sorry. It is maps. The folder is named "maps". I put the bsp file in maps/mp and that's where codmp.exe says it can't find it. I had trouble at first with my computer putting the bsp file in a "virtual" folder and not the maps folder. Discovered that that was a security thing on my computer. When I changed permissions under the properties tab of the file (batch file) and it worked. Now when I compile it shows up in the maps folder and I move it to mp as instructed in the tutorial but when I test it can't find it there. I changed permissions on the bsp file and that does not help.

thanks for your response

Did you make a skybox?
Did you have any errors show up during compile?
If you have not yet made a pk3 file make sure you have pure set to no in game menu.

I am following tutorial on this site which doesn'y say anything about a skybox. I don't know what that is. My knowledge of programing is pretty basic. I don't see anything that looks like an error when I run the compile. It creates the bsp and prt files as it should. It stops on press any key to continue which closes the compile. I did set pure to no when i tried to test it. It just doesn't see the bsp file even though it is in the folder it says it is looking for it in.

You will eventually need a skybox to make the map playable but for now it's okay.

In order to open your map you are going to have to have pure set to no. I know you're getting a message that says it can't find your map but just ignore it for now and set pure to no and then try to load your map.

Ok rookie mistake. My mp folder was not in my map folder. It was next to the map folder under main. On to next problem. Now it tries to load but says"one sound file missing or in bad format". I notice in the tutorial it says there should be a poly file created from the compile also. I do not see that one. Is that an issue?

Thanks again for your help
