I've posted some pictures here to show you all what I'm up to right now...

For what it's worth, I think it's look good. Maybe some more treelines here and there and maybe it'll look believable. Clearly inspired by Bad Company 2's Nelson Bay.

I'm pushing CoD2 to its limits and damn, what a lagfest I have created. I think I'll start to portal when I'm completely finished the terrain and details. Right now it's not a priority (and I don't know how to make outside portals).

Oh yeah, it takes ~40 minutes to compile the map now. Which is nice.

Αye aye, decent work so far again.
For faster compile make sure light options in compile bsp are fast and not extra. I think there are such options in COD2 too.

Thanks, well the thing is...

I've checked off fast, verbose, and model shadow in the compiler every time I ran my map. I'm assuming I should uncheck model shadow, but I think the map would look weird without it.

Well it's been some time since the last update here. And now that winter vacation began I have started working on my map again. Right now I'm working on the trainstation area and hopefully beyond. I've posted some pictures here to show you all my progress so far.

I hope you like. Also, there may be more frequent updates now that I'm on break so stay tuned! [drink]

Good good.
I like the simple and nice looking environment.
COD4-COD5 maps do use a lot of detail and complex mapping that makes it look quite detailed on one hand, but too overloaded on the other hand. Simple map designs like this is the kind of FPS gaming I grew up with. I'm reffering to MOH titles again ;)

Fast update: the trainstation area is almost complete. I've recently added loads of cargo, barrels, and trucks as well as redid the platform stairs. There is a lot of empty space there right now because I'll add the rest of the cargo when the AI will be placed so I can make some sort of arena. The last photo shows the view from the ridge in the beginning of my map. I placed a lot of terrain textured with bushes to resemble a forest in stead of placing a million of tree models. I think it looks ok.

@SPi: sometimes I feel like you're the only one still following this project! Thanks for all your support!

No update today just wanted to wish a merry Christmas to everyone out there. About my map: I'm about to start making the docks after I finish the forest maze with multiple paths. Maybe sometime this week I'll begin making the shipyard.

@Ni3ls: I haven't heard from you in a while, good to see you again! Thanks and the .map file right now is 12 megabytes big and I'm still not finished with the map's terrain. I'm not sure if that's good or not.

First map update of 2017, happy new years everyone! I can't believe I've been working on this map for over almost half a year now. It looks like I'll be finished with the terrain not long and then comes adding AI and scripting.

Map update: Over the past week I've been working on the "forest maze" - a little section of the map that has more than one route to get to the docks. There are also some secrets in the forest such as the shack in the second picture. The last picture I've posted here shows a little peak of the docks (well not really - more like just a watchtower). Hopefully the maze will be complete soon, all I have to do is plant a few more trees and bushes to make it feel like a forest.
