Well it's prolly your ISP if it happens on all servers. I would ring them up and ask them. One of my work mates switched to Tiscali and had 600+ pings on every game server he went on, regardless of them game or where server was located, he switched back to his old ISP problem sloved.

Check and make sure that your Internet cables are securly connected at the back of your modem and PC.

Make sure that you are not out of Bandwidth, check this with your ISP.

Make sure the SP2 firewall is not running (Only if you have installed SP2)

Turn any programs in which people could download files off you such as P2P.

Lo.

Have you tried to reset your modem by taking
off the power of your modem and then put on the power.

Do you have high ping to websites also?

Check ping to several websites:

You can test your connection to other sites using the command-line Ping utility on your computer. You can find out where the problem is in the connection to any given site using the command-line Traceroute or Tracert utility:

To ping www.modsonline.com:

Open a command prompt:
Start | Programs | MS Dos Prompt
At the C:\ command prompt type:

ping www.modsonline.com and press Enter

This will give you a low, high, and average RTT value.
You can test any URL this way.

To trace the route from your computer to:

www.modsonline.com

Click Start | Programs | MS Dos Prompt
At the C:\ command prompt type:

tracert www.modsonline.com and press Enter

You will then see a list of all the routers between your computer and the one you specified, along with three sample RTTs for each router. You can sometimes identify a problem with your connection by finding one router (or "hop") that has much higher RTTs than the hop before it. If your response times are slow and the connection is consistently timing out somewhere along the route, you may want to notify your ISP.

Ping Time Explanation:

<100 ms Great, typical of a high-speed cable or DSL connection.
100 to 200 ms Good, common for cable and DSL connections.
200 to 400 ms Fair, usually seen with dialup connections or faraway sites.
400 to 600 ms Slow, either the connection or the remote site is slow.
600 to 1999 ms Poor, high latency. Typical for satellite connections.
> 1999 ms No response, the ping was blocked or the site did not reply.

I sent ping tests and tracerts to my IP provider..Not heard back from them yet...

My ping results were like 25-50ms but i was losing 1-2 packets somewhere on the hop..Losing about 25%..

So i take it there must be a problem somewhere..[mad]

Ok ping test looks excellent for your connection.

But losing packests along the hops is a bad thing.

Hope you have an good ISP for support i mean.

So they take some action.

Its a shame but like "E3|Raraavis" wrote it is probably
an problem with your ISP and they won't admit.

Maybe there is someone here on the forum who has other
solutions.

Come on people if you do have any suggestions for "sooty40"
problem help him out if you can.
