Hey I'm working on my first DoomIII mod (Single Player) and I didn't want to post tons of different topics each one about a small thing so hopefully I'll post them here and have them answered. (Hope this is ok with the Admins and Moderators)

My first question...The shake screen property of the speaker, other than simply set it to 1 and turn it on can you increase the amount it shakes? (I haven't used any scripting as of this post)

I suggest you play with some of the other numbers.

However, to my recollection, it's either on or off and will effect the player based on his proximity to the speaker.

Yeah the default is 1 which turns it on and as the player moves closer it gets louder and shakes more but I didn't know if I could get it to shake any more than normal. [rocking]

How do you take off the default message you get when you first get a PDA?

I've watched the 'Working with PDAs' by DiabloBasher (first tutorial I watched) and he constantly mentions taking that screen off and how he doesn't know how to do it, but never shows it and asks if anyone knows to email him the answer.

Ok so I'm pretty close to getting the first real 'puzzle' done and it's more of a find the code and open the door thing but tweaked. A big thing I've been wondering is making the mod show up in the mods menu, now when I want to check out my level I type 'devmap map/mp/test2', now when D3 crashes I have to constantly type that in (because the up arrow memory is deleted and doesn't remember what I typed).

How can I get it in that mod menu so I can just click mod->mod_name->and start from there?

but though i do want to know how u get the sound louder as u get closer [casanova][casanova][eek][biggrin]

Well here ya go then!!! [thumbs_up]

Create a new speaker and give it a Key of s_shakes and a value of whatever. I set mine at 100 so it shakes a lot. Controlling how far you want it to start or stop simply means controlling the s_maxdistance and playing with that value to your liking. I think the sound getting louder as you get closer is D3Ed default so it should get louder the closer you get to the speaker without setting any keys.

For example I have a room on the other side of the door that has that noise playing in it but it was too loud and shaking the screen before I got in the room. I changed the s_maxDistance to 10 and left the s_shakes at 100 (what I had before) and it simply changed how far it started shaking.[read]

In case anyone was interested I got the PDA thing to work. I start the player off with the player_spawn having a target of item_pda_1 and it gives it to you at the beginning of the level without that annoying splash screen thing.
