How do I package and put my mod together? Right now I have the folder 'Crow' placed inside my base->maps folder and inside that i have folders game (for maps) and newpdas (for my custom pdas). Where do I put this def file and do I put it there as the .pk4 or as the actual folder since none of it is compressed yet?

The simple solution is just download my tutorials off this site in the doom3 video tutorials section. They are all about modding rather than just general mapping. You can make a pretty neat mod with whats there. The first video is all about setting up a map folder, making a pk4 file, getting your mod working and playing with original .def files.

So check it out, thats why I made em.

Hey sorry I kept asking, I thought that first one only had the real basic stuff about the editor, not the whole file thing. Do you remember what tutorial shows how to make a custom startpage?

ALL my tutorials on this site (that go under the name birritan) are ALL about modding.

I've followed your advice and moved my folder and such and created the right sub-folders but I'm getting the error 'Failure to Load Map' when I try to bsp, any ideas?

make sure you have the maps folder in your mod folder and save and compile into that and always make sure your loaded into your mod before you load your mod before loading a map.

Thats what the problem sounds like to me.

This is what happens inside the editor. I can save it fine and everything and it gave me this error whenever I bsp it. I can load it and everything loads, all textures and objects (this is in editor) and saves completly fine.

Code:
during running dmap...
WARNING: Couldn't load map file: 'maps/basement'

When running it in D3 I get this error also and it just goes back to the main screen. I've tried Save As.. with a new name and started a new map and loaded it in and still gave me that error.

Thats weird. I only get errors like that when I have forgot to load into my mod before going into the editor and it fails to load cause I'm trying to load maps that are save into my mod/maps folder and not base/maps

Maybe it's cause I'm not loading the Mod. What I have now is a shortcut going right to the editor, should I maybe start Doom 3, load the mod, and then bring up the editor? (I'm at school now which is why I'm asking and not trying; I'll try as soon as I get home)

Ok I did this quick before I came back here to school and when I loaded the Mod and then started the editor and then BSP'ed it came up with the normal leak error so apparently it's loading and working fine. Fixing leaks is easy (plus I expected them with what I added)
