Is this community dead?
I mean, when I post something on Call of Duty sections I can see not much people hang around. Are we not functional anymore?
Is cod in modsonline dead?

Yes and no.

I always thought ModsOnline as a hub for for SP and MP modding, both of which aren't thriving as much anymore as Zombies modding. I don't think anyone is really making serious SP maps anymore unless they are looking for a job. Plus in the CoD sections here people either post random videos or requests for someone to essentially do a whole feature for them without putting any effort of their own.

The Zombie modders stick to their own segregated communities though because the community represents an overall mod (TMG, UGX, ZM, etc...) and they want to build up a user base with exclusivity.

I haven't followed CoD MP much but I imagine it must be hard deciding whether to make a map for CoD where really no one beyond a few friends of yours are going to play it when you have other games like CSGO where you can make a map for hundreds / thousands of random people to play and potentially even make money.

This site is still functional when the occasional person who is looking for a job posts questions after having shown some of their own initiative.

I wish CoD had Steam Workshop support for the older titles, even if just as a file hosting service with stat tracking to a modder. It'd help revive the modding scene and unify the separate communities.

Yes indeed. Makes sense.

For the record I'm devoted in a serious sp mappack. And I can say its progress is quite good so far. But after that I don't think I'll do much.

It would indeed be great to have steam workshop for cod4 and cod5 mods/maps so we could have more people on our projects.
Thanks for the reply anyway.

Most people post in MODSOnline because they need help, and some people know the answer. This may explain why we have so many post but so few answer.

Secondly, people prefer take other's work and mod it than making one themselves. So people who create a mod will keep it for themselves.

Finally, old CoD series is dying: new CoD dont support mods.

Am I right?
