I tried making a square covered in "kill" from the tool pack but it does not kill the players when they land in it. How do I make the ground kill a player when they land on it?

How do I put invisible walls around the border of my map so players dont fall out?

How do I put a custom logo on a wall?

I highly recommend making yourself a small test map, where you can play around with all the tools, textures, clips, triggers and all the fun stuff COD mod tools has to give. I use one still, constantly. It makes testing things quick, because compile time is reduced to a few minutes or seconds. You can learn a great deal by playing in a test map, and it can also be useful to go back to see how you did something in the past. It becomes a great, big log book.



How do I make the ground kill a player when they land on it?

Right Click the 2d screen, choose: trigger > hurt
Select the trigger_hurt, press N, to open the entity editor, give it the following Key/Value, then press enter.
Key: dmg
Value: 100

Stands for Damage, and how much damage you want to deal the player. You can use 100, however, some mods give players more health, you can make it 200 if you wanted, just to make sure you kill the player. It will pretty much kill the player the second they touch the trigger anyways, as long as the player stays within the trigger, it keeps trying to deal 100 damage every game tick. You have to be careful where you use these types of triggers if you are using objectives.


How do I put invisible walls around the border of my map so players dont fall out?

You can use the tools texture "player clip".
Drop down menu: Textures > Usage > Tools > clip_player

Clip player is used for walls mostly. If the player were to walk on it, no sound would be made. Different clips would be used for models, or walk-able objects.


How do I put a custom logo on a wall?

This question is a little more advanced, which would require the use of some type of photo editing software [Photoshop/GIMP] and Asset Manager and possibly a .dds converter/plugin. There are tutorials out there, but would be lengthy to reiterate here in a simple post. I suggest searching youtube, this site, or the web for " COD4 custom decals".

DeekCiti said it good, i will only add this;
search the web for "cod4 custom textures / decals", there are tutorials about it so you will know how to make a logo.
For damage i would also recommend "dmg" but put volume to 999 if it`s a jump map, or use the kill script.
And for invisible walls, we mostly just use "Caulk".

The reason I stray from using caulk is because I can't remove it in filters while I'm working, without removing all of it. Much of the time I like to filter my working map so I can actually "see" what it is I'm working on without having to look through or around brushes. Not to say your way doesn't work, because it does, but then again, there is a reason they created the Clip called "clip_player".

It also makes it more easily identifiable to someone else who is looking at your work and or collaborating with you on a project to show the bounds of the map using the "clip_player". [crazy]

Sorry, i wrote it wrong. I`m also using filters and i make layers. For doors, windows and blocking player from entering non-playable area i also use clip_player. Don`t know why i wrote caulk.
