Hi! I´m new in the mapping world. So now to the problem...
how the h**l do I make a jump pad work in Q4. Call me stupid i you want, I even extacted an orginal mp map from the .pk4 to see if I could copy it from there to my own map.
Plz I need help [banghead]

BTW Your Video Tutorials Rocks[rocking]

Gees!!! you could have explained it for everyone else. I'm having the same problem, my player ends up standing on the spot where the jump pad model was placed ( and it's not there) , and nothing happens except an ever-repeating jump sound which holds me to the floor >>>> is there a reason why we have to hunt for hours upon hours to find tutorials on q4 mapping that don't exist???? please help.

I apreciate you helping me. thank you... although, this person doesn't speak propper english and it is still confusing...
ie: "Now escape (Esc) press around all selections to dissolve.
"Now ONLY func_jumppad and then info_location the Entity marks" . . . . .HUH?
"Now Strg + K press around the Entitys to connect." what's a "strg + K " ??
"Jenachdem like highly it info_location the Entity sets, indicates it the height and the direction of the jump."

I'm sorry, and maybe I'm stupid....but I can't understand this dude. If you have any other soarses, I'd be very thankful.

I'll return tonight to view ............. anywhere you could direct me would be apreciated . These maps I'm coming up with on paper will be KILLER! I just need some help figuring out the last few things.

The bold font is a little too much for my eyes if you could please cut back on that.

The answer to the jump pad is actually quite simple. You only need two entities to make it work.

- draw a brush equal to the size of the jump platform.
- turn this brush into a func_jumppad (I think you have this if you hear the jump sound)

- add a target_null to the map. This is going to be the height and direction that the player jumps to when they activate the jumppad

- press esc to deselect everything.

- Now select the func_jumppad
- Next select the target_null (in that order)
- press Ctrl+k to link them. The result will be that the jumppad will now be targeting the null as seen in the entity properties of the jumppad

That's it. Thats all you need. Everything else is just fluff.

Oh.. and damn that tutorial I linked for you was confusing. I'm really sorry about that.

If you got pulled to the floor maybe your target_null was below the floor, rather than in a upward area.

LOL... that tut wasn't any clearer to me even after the 43rd time I read it LOL . I will try what you've told me, and get back to you... (is there any reason why the jump pad model doesn't appear in my map tho? - wierd ...thanks in advance, sorry for the RED - hotwheeler
