Hey, it's Me again. How do I put My custom textures into My bsp file. Can this still be done, and if so how do I do it? I have a bunch of custom textures in My custom folder, and wanted to release a few maps, but not have to put the whole custom folder, since the maps only use 6-10 textures from it out of 200 or so. Also... If I open the bsp in notepad, and copied it, then pasted it somewhere like here. Would it be playable if someone copied it and renamed it a bsp file? Just wondering.

I far as I remember you can't "bake" textures into a bsp. My advice would be to open the vmf in notepad, find the names of the custom textures and place them into a new folder. Then include the new folder with your map.

Alternatively you could look at using the VPK format to compress the file - https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/VPK but it's pretty poor mapping practice to include assets that are not used.

You could paste your vmf contents here and someone would be a able to save it, compile it and play it, this however will not work for bsp files.

Edit: Sorry I guess i drank too much last night..

Hm actually i'm wrong. You can in fact do this using packbsp - http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Packbsp

Although I'm not sure how this tool works having never used it.

Thanks Bro! checking the links out. Looks like it will do what I want it to do. I just move a few of the maps to DOD as well as CSS. I will be releasing My maps for both games. Now I just need to optimize the maps, and ad a few area portals, and hints to speed stuff up a bit.
