Hey,

I'm an indie developer that's been working on a game since about 2010. One of the items first requested by my community, was to provide modding support.

I'm not a modder, I code games from scratch, or use other engines. Back in 2005, I modded Halo2 on Xbox, and it was pretty sweet. I had no idea what I was doing though.

So as a developer, I need to know what modding communities work with, like and need. Currently, our engine is very modular, and loads it's resources from external XML files, and text files wherever possible, and editing these would have some very very powerful consequences.

I don't want this to be mistaken for a plug for the game, so I won't post what it is, but I will say it has a LOT in common with Elder Scrolls series, and is a survival FPS.

So some clue as to what defines a "Good Modding API" would be wonderful. I'll be doing some reading, but really need some direction on where to go with this.

Thankyou for your time,

- Jarryd
