Hi mappers, is it possible to change the maps vision file when inside of a trigger and when you hop out of the trigger it resets back to normal?

just say i got 2 vision files: first is called: terminal_normal
and second is called terminal_building

basically what im asking is the normal vision is terminal_normal can i make it so my trigger covers the building and when im inside of it the vision changes to terminal_building?

if so can you please give me the script or any source of tutorial, thanks! [thumbs_up]

ok thanks, but the only tutorial that i have ever got to work from him is the patrollers one, also does anyone have a test map with sourcefiles that i can have that has griggs tied up in a chair? would help me alot [rocking]

ok i had a look at that video, that is just changing the vision ingame and changing it permantly to something else for the script part, i only want mine to change when im in a trigger, so dont change it in total change it when im inside of a trigger, thanks [wink]

Let me ask you this, would u rather:

A) See what your vision file will look like in game, then write that info
in your vision file? ( this will save you time from constantly updating your
vision file and running the game over and over )

or

B) Write numbers down and take a wild guess at what the vision
file will look like in the end? ( You will constantly update and recompile
and run the game just to see what it looks like )


Keep in mind that you can find the value u want for ur indoor one, then you can go outside and do another completely different value for the outdoor one, both of which will have to be written down. Then the last part is just to do it via script. simple as that. So essentially that video tutorial is an ingame preview, you will make it permanent by writting it down into your vision file and executing it properly via script.

idiot...... i like your tutorial voidsource, but as i explained thats not what i want, if you can read you would understand that i only want the vision to change when im standing inside of a trigger... *sigh* can anyone actually help me?[banghead]

i get what your saying but that tut was in reference so u'd understand how to do a vision file without all the hassle and headaches. as far as your trigger issue goes, its gonna have to be scripted. you can have a trigger multiple and then do a check to see if player is touching trigger and if so then set vision, if not then nothing happens. Also make it recognize if the trigger has already been activiated to set a var to true and that way if it recognizes that the player is touching the trigger but the var is false hten it knows to set the vision file but if the var is set to true and the player is touching trigger then the vision file has already been set and doesnt need to be reset....do another var for when player isnt touching trigger but has already set the default vision file. ( default being w/e u want it to be ) Look at the stock scripts of FNG as the long version of that mission uses triggers only when player is touching them. pretty much works exactly how u want it to work.
