I am new to this forum and modding in general and want to "mod" old pc games to run on modern machines with modern graphics.

....how would I even do this?
Please point me to a community site that does this kind of thing

Depends what games?

Call of Duty(1/2) etc you wont be able to substantially change the graphics as you dont have access to the actual Direct3D code or the HLSL shaders..

some games that you can access the source too you could be able to change the graphics quality.. but its not as easy as changing a line of code..

'How Would I do this'

Learn C++, Learn Direct3D/OpenGL.
